一只风筝的故事
I see a kite at the hobby store.
I say, “That’s the one I want.”
我在专卖店看到一只风筝。我说：“我想要那只风筝。”
We take my new kite home. I put it together. Dad helps.
我们带着我的新风筝回家。我把它组装好。爸爸帮助了我。
Saturday is the Critterville Kite Flying Contest.
I take my kite out to practice.
周六是小毛人镇的放风筝比赛。我出去练习放风筝。
My Dad and I go to the park. It is a very windy day.
爸爸和我一起去公园。是个大风天儿。
Dad says, “watch out for trees!”
Oops, too late. My kite gets caught.
爸爸说：“小心树。”哦，太晚了。我的风筝被卡住了。
Dad saves my kite. But my kite is all ripped up.
爸爸把我的风筝取下来。但是我的风筝都碎了。
I cry. Dad says, “Don’t worry. We can get another one.”
我哭了。爸爸说：“别担心。我们可以再买一个。”
But the store is sold out.
I say,” I will miss the contest!”
I am brave and only cry a little.
但专卖店卖完了。我说：“我会错过比赛的。”
我很勇敢，只哭了一小下儿。
Dad says, “I have an idea.”
He calls Grandpa.
Grandpa will build a new one.
爸爸说：“我有个主意。”他给姥爷打了电话。姥爷会给我做一个新风筝。
Grandpa goes to his workshop.
He builds a special kite just for me.
Grandpa brings it to me.
姥爷在他的工作坊，给我做了一个独一无二的风筝。
姥爷把风筝给我带来了。
It has no decorations on it.
I do some special art on it.
We are ready to try it out.
风筝上没有任何装饰。我自己画了特别的艺术作品。我们已经准备好去试飞了。
My kite flies well at the park.
It goes fast. It goes high.
Too high. It disappears.
我的风筝在公园里飞得可好了。他飞得很快，很高。太高了。它消失不见了。
“Oh, no!” I say. “ My kite is gone!”
“Yep, it’s gone, says Grandpa.
“The string broke.” “Let’s go shopping.”
“哦，不！”我说。“我的风筝没了！”“是的，它飞走了”姥爷说。
“风筝的弦坏了。咱们去商店吧。”
I ask: “Why, Grandpa?”
“It’s a surprise,” Grandpa says.
我问：“为什么啊姥爷？” “惊喜啊。姥爷说。
We go to the hardware store.
We go to the lumber yard.
We go to the art supply store.
我们去了五金店。
我们去了木材厂。
我们去了艺术用品店。
I ask, “ what’s all this stuff for?”
“You’ll see,” says Grandpa.
Grandpa goes to Dad’s shop.
我问：“这些东西能做什么？”
“待会儿就知道啦。”姥爷说。
姥爷去了爸爸的店。
He is there for a long time.
He won’t tell me anything at dinner or at bedtime.
他在那里呆了很久。
晚饭时，就寝时，他不透露任何信息。
In the morning, I find Grandpa’s surprise for me.
It’s an amazing new kite.
早上，我找到了姥爷给我的惊喜。
是一只新风筝。
We all go to the Kite Flying Contest.
My kite flies great!
我们一起去了放风筝大赛。
我们的风筝飞得特别好。
I don’t win a ribbon for the highest kite or the fastest kite.
I win a ribbon for the most original kite!
我没有赢得“飞得最高的风筝”或者“飞得最快的风筝”的荣誉。
我赢得了最淳朴风筝奖。
I say, “It’s just a kite my Grandpa made for me!”
我说：“这是我姥爷给我做的!”
