本书简介与特色：
这是一个全家人一起去猎熊的故事，一家人在一个风和日丽的日子出发猎熊，一路上他们穿过草地、河流、泥地、森林和暴风雪，终于在山洞里发现一只熊，但是他们一见到熊就吓得往回跑，穿过暴风雪、森林、泥地、河流和草地回到家躲起来，吓得再也不敢去捉熊了。作者巧妙组合不同的词句，又生动表达前半段猎熊的兴奋与后半段被熊追赶的紧张刺激，十分精彩有趣。
全文以韵文朗诗的方式呈现，小朋友容易随着韵文的节奏一起朗诵，故事内容温馨有趣，插画风格清新自然，是一本能够让小朋友感受阅读乐趣的英语童书，而且能唱能读能做游戏，廖彩杏和吴敏兰均有推荐，获得第14届日本绘本奖特别奖，1988年英国凯特·格林纳威奖提名，1989年美国内斯尔·斯马尔蒂斯图书奖，1990年美国《号角书》杂志年度好书奖，入选纽约公共图书馆“每个人都应该知道的100种图画书”。
作者Michael Rosen自1970年开始从事儿童读物写作，拥有英国诗人、演员、电台播报员与剧作家多重身份，以充满童趣的笔触，把英国古老的野营歌曲演绎成为这个充满声音、节奏与戏剧张力的有趣猎熊故事。绘者Helen Oxenbury是世界知名童书插画家John Burningham的妻子，毕业于艺术学校的她一直从事与戏剧相关的设计工作，后从事绘本插画，现今的Helen Oxenbury在插画界的名声并不亚于她的丈夫，作品屡屡获奖，We're going on a bear hunt于2000年荣获凯迪克银奖，Alice's Adventures in Wonderland曾获得英国格林威大奖，Farmer Duck则获得安徒生绘本大奖。
