Hattie was a big black hen.
海蒂是一只黑色的大母鸡
One morning she looked up and said,

"Goodness gracious me! I can see a nose in the bushes!"

"Good grief!" said the goose.
“天哪！”鹅说
"Well, well!" said the pig.

"Who cares?" said the sheep.
“管它呢！”羊说
"So what?" said the horse.
“那又怎么样？”马说
"What next?" said the cow.
“然后呢？”母牛说
And Hattie said, "Goodness gracious me! I can see a nose and two eyes in the bushes!"
海蒂又说：“我的天哪！我看见灌木丛里有一个鼻子和两只眼睛！”
"Good grief!" said the goose.
“天哪！”鹅说
"Well, well!" said the pig.
“哦，哦！”猪说
"Who cares?" said the sheep.
“管它呢！”羊说
"So what?" said the horse.
“那又怎么样？”马说
"What next?" said the cow.
“然后呢？”母牛说
And Hattie said, "Goodness gracious me! I can see a nose, two eyes, and two ears in the bushes!"

And Hattie said, "Goodness gracious me! I can see a nose, two eyes, two ears, a body, four legs, and a tail in the bushes! It's a fox! It's a fox!"
海蒂又说：“我的天哪！我看见灌木丛里有一只鼻子，两只眼睛，两只耳朵，一个身体，四条腿还有一条尾巴！是狐狸！是狐狸！”
And she flew very quickly into a nearby tree.
她用最快的速度飞上了近旁的一棵树
"Oh, no!" said the goose.
“噢，不！”鹅说
"Dear me!" said the pig.
“我的天！”猪说
"Oh, dear!" said the sheep.
“噢，天哪！”羊说
"Oh, help!" said the horse.
“噢，救命！”马说
But the cow said, "Moo!" so loudly that the fox was frightened and ran away.
只有母牛大叫了一声“哞！”，声音很大，狐狸被吓跑了
And they were all so surprised that none of them said anything for a very long time.
