美国绘本故事《有一天》说出许多父母的心声，故事从一位母亲喃喃自语做为开头，叙述著孩子的成长过程以及会遇上的种种事情，直到有一天孩子会离开家开创自己的人生，成为其他人的父母，然后当老去时回想起自己的父母。
一天深夜的时候，「Alison McGhee」站在房间的门口看着熟睡中的女儿，心里感觉不知道被什么东西温柔的碰触了一下，于是走到厨房的餐桌，便开始写下《有一天》的初稿：「那一天，我数着妳的手指，轻轻的把他们都吻了一遍；那一天，第一次的雪花飘下，我把妳高高的攑起来…」

曾经，我亲吻遍妳每根小小的手指。

有一天，妳会开始快速的奔跑，内心就像火焰般的熊熊燃烧。

有一天，妳会发现荡的比妳预计的还要高很多。

有一天，妳会因为坏消息而难过，整个人都被忧伤包围。

有一天，妳会在风中唱歌，并且希望风能把妳的歌声带到很远的地方。
▼「Someday I will stand on this porch and watch your arms waving to me until I no longer see you.」
有一天，我会站在门廊挥手跟妳说再见，直到妳消失在我眼前。

有一天，妳看着着我们家，觉得拥有很多的回忆，此时此刻看起来却如此的渺小。

有一天，妳也能体会到坚强的肩膀上有着小小负担。
▼「Someday I will watch you brushing your child’s hair.」
有一天，我会看到妳坐在床边，帮自己的孩子梳理着她的头发。

有一天，在遥远的那一天，妳头发也会在阳光下闪著银白光。
▼「And when that day comes,love,you will remember me.」
等到那天到来的时候，亲爱的，妳将会想起我。
